Lake Suurjärv

Overview

Lake Suurjärv, or as the locals call it, ’Witch’s Lake’, which is located in a deep primeval valley, forms part of a chain of lakes in Rõuge valley. Lake Suurjärv is the deepest lake of Estonia of – 38 m. There is a public sandy beach near the lake and the hiking trail in the Rõuge Primeval Valley runs along its shore. 

Rõuge Suurjärv is one of the 23 places in Southern Estonia worth discovering that are marked by a yellow National Geographic window.
