Sillapää Castle

Overview

The Räpina manor was bought by Gustav Cristoph Eduard von Richter (1790-1847) in the first half of the 19th century. Born in Livonia and trained in Moscow and Heidelberg, von Richter was a wealthy man and owned several manors in Livonia. He had Sillapää Castle built between 1836 and 1840. The castle at that time consisted of a central part with columns, side wings and intermediate structures. The central part and the side wings had two floors, the intermediate buildings one. In addition, Richter had the grounds of the manor measured and an atlas with maps created in 1844.
